This is located in the southern part of Ahmedabad in the Maninagar area.This place is lovely with a beautiful lake and is one of the most famous tourist attractions for visiting. It is ideal for leisure walks, boating, picnics, and it makes the walks a fun event. Earlier known as Hauj-E-Qutub, this is the largest lake in Ahmedabad. This is where the previous Badshaah's would come to take a bath. An island garden in the centre and a summer palace is called Nagina Wadi.

During December, this place hosts the Carnival. There are a lot of entertainment factors in the park-like the zoo, the toy train rides, boating facilities, water park, kids' city and a very efficient food cafeteria.The opening hours for Kankaria Lake are from 4 am to 11 pm every day, except Monday. Apart from this, there is no entry between 8 to 9 am and 10 to 11 pm every day. Those who come between 4 am, and 8 am are avail of free admission. Else, the entry fee is Rs. 10/- for adults and Rs. 5/- for kids below 12 years.

This is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad.Sabarmati Ashram is among the main tourist attraction points of Ahmedabad, where Mahatma Gandhi lived for 12 years with his wife, Kasturba. Gandhi set this up as a co-operative where he popularised the spinning of khadi. He set up the Khadi Udyog and popularised animal husbandry.

This is also where he started the Dandi March, also known as Salt Satyagraha. People come here to see the items that Mahatma Gandhi used- his charkha, his glasses, the wooden slippers he wore, the books he read and the letters he wrote.

There is a library and museum which contains giant paintings, around 250 large photos, manuscripts and approximately 35,000 books which belonged to them. There is also a cottage named 'Hridaya Kunj' and a guesthouse called 'Nandini'.

It is open every day from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm and has free entry for everyone.

This place is located at the Adalaj Village in Ahmedabad.This was built in 1499 by Queen Rudabai. This is a colossal stepwell built for the resting purpose of pilgrims and caravans in the earlier days. This is a massive place with excellent architectural marvels. The dome has step-wells constructed, which were the only water source for Gujarat's dry regions in those times. Many step wells were built; however, this one was the most famous with three entrance stairs. Made with Indo Islamic architectural aspects, there are elaborate carvings in the monument and other mythological scenes.

The interiors are so well built that the exterior sunlight does not reach the interiors, as a result of which the temperature inside is six degrees lesser. This is open every day from 6 am to 6 pm and has 20rs. entry fee.

Science City

 

Built-in 1960, this is located in Hebatpur and has a beautiful world of science and technology. It is an initiative by the Gujarat Government to push more and more students to learn about science. The kids enjoy this place a lot, and the interiors can take up a whole day for the people to see. It has an IMAX 3D, a musical fountain, a life science park and musical fountain, an energy park, an amphitheatre that shows virtual reality movies and simulation ideas. There are exhibits in the Hall of Space, Hall of Science, Energy Park, and Earth Pavilion, conducting various experiments, making the entire experience fun for the kids.

There is also an outside food cafeteria which provides good food for the travellers. This is open to everyone from 2 pm to 10 pm. The entry fee is Rs.10/- for adults and Rs.5/- for kids.

This is located 7kms southwest of Ahmedabad in the village of Makeba.It was a prolific centre of Sufi culture, and here is where the Sufi saint, Ganj Baksh, lived. 

Mohammad Shah built this in his honour. It is a monument consisting of various buildings grouped around a stepped tank, including a mosque and a mausoleum. There is also a breath-taking dome built by an artificial Sarkhej lake. Also known as 'Ahmedabad's Acropolis', its design was compared to the famous Acropolis in Athens by the renowned architect Le Corbusier. It does not have an arch-shaped entrance but has a flat roof with ten flat domes and 120 pillars. It has free entry for everyone.

This is a South Indian style temple in Ahmedabad and this temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy. Shri Balaji Mandir is located on the Gandhinagar - Sarkhej highway and is 17.1 km from Gandhinagar city. This is a beautiful temple of Lord Balaji and here you will get a glimpse of South Indian culture.The temple complex is small but here you can see idols of all avatars of Vishnu and you can enjoy South Indian Prasad in the temple and South Indian food in the canteen. My personal experience is very good and it is a very peaceful place that's why I have mentioned it in the list of best tourist places in Ahmedabad and I heartily recommend that you must visit here once. Darshan timings are 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM .
